A small to medium-sized boreal deciduous conifer with a slender trunk, horizontal branches and drooping branchlets, forming an open pyramidal shape. Needles are produced spirally on long shoots, in dense clusters on woody spur shoots and are light blue-green in color, turning a brilliant yellow before dropping in the fall. Cones are small, egg-shaped and bright red in color, later turning brown and opening to release seeds when mature. Prefers full sun and rich, wet to moist, acidic soil. Very cold-tolerant. Commonly used for bonsai trees or planting in natural landscapes, parks and wet areas.

When ordering tray material, any 38 Ct and 50 Ct Evergreen Gro Plugs or 18 Ct cell liner trays, the order quantity must be in full tray increments.

Example
  • 7 trays of 50 Ct Gro Plugs would be 350 plants on the order line.
  • 5 trays of 18 Ct trays would be 90 plants on the order line.

All bare root birch single stem must be ordered in increments of 10.
