SPRUCE SERBIAN

A moderately growing, medium-sized, narrow evergreen tree with a pyramidal shape and graceful weeping branches that are somewhat pendant, curling up at the ends. Needles are blunt to slightly pointed at the tips, flattened in cross-section, dark green above with two white stomatal lines underneath. Cones are spindle-shaped and broad in the middle, dark purple when young, maturing to a dark brown with stiff scales. Has the ability to grow on a wide range of soils, including alkaline, clay, acidic and sandy soil although it prefers moist, well-drained loam. Grows best in full sun to partial shade. One of the most attractive spruces, making it a great choice for any landscape, vertical accent, privacy screen or windbreak.
