A moderately growing, large evergreen conifer exhibiting a narrow, conical to pyramidal form, with slightly drooping horizontal branches that extend to the ground, creating a dense, formal appearance.

Needles are rhombic in cross-section, glaucous blue-green above with several thin stomatal lines, and blue-white beneath with two broad bands of stomata. Cones are pendulous, slender, and cylindrical, with thin, flexible scales and smoothly rounded margins. They emerge green or reddish and mature to a pale brown.

One of the most environmentally tolerant spruce species, it withstands heat, cold, wind, and drought. Performs best in moist, well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade.

A popular choice for ornamental plantings, specimen trees, and windbreaks.
