A loosely pyramidal form becoming upright to rounded with age. The bark is reddish-brown turning white after three to four years. The white bark exfoliates exposing reddish-orange inner bark. Leaves are dark green turning a rich yellow in fall. Considered one of the best birch for fall foliage. Prefers full sun and rich, moist soil. Mulch plantings and provide adequate moisture during dry periods. A great accent tree, or specimen usually grown in clumps. The best white barked birch.
