A slow-growing, long-lived conifer characterized by its graceful, lacy, dense evergreen foliage. It has a pyramidal shape when young, becoming more open with pendulous branches as it matures.
Needles are dark green, short, and flat, arranged in a two-ranked pattern along the branches, with two white stomatal bands on the underside. Cones are small, ovoid, and brown, hanging gracefully from the branches.
Prefers partial shade and slightly acidic to neutral, nutrient-rich, moist, well-drained soil. Highly desirable as an ornamental specimen and well suited for screens or small group plantings.
