A naturally occurring hybrid between Sitka Spruce and White Spruce with a broad, dense, upright habit, symmetrical downturned branches and a strong central leader. Needles are blue-green to gray-green in color, sharply pointed, a little flattened in cross section and have fewer stomatal lines on the two outer faces. Cones are pendulous, slender, cylindrical and more rounded than those of the parent species. Known for adaptability, it grows best in full sun and well-drained soil. Used for privacy screens or hedges and makes a great specimen tree for its striking appearance.
