A large, fast-growing evergreen conifer with a classic pyramidal form, featuring a tall, straight trunk and slightly upturned primary branches. As the tree matures, secondary branches become gracefully pendulous, adding texture and movement to the landscape.
The needles are quadrangular in cross-section and deep green on all four sides, with subtle stomatal lines. Producing the longest cones of any spruce, this species features cones with blunt to sharply pointed triangular scales—emerging green or reddish and maturing to a rich brown.
Well suited to cooler, northern climates, this spruce performs best in full sun with well-drained, acidic soil. Its dense foliage and vigorous growth make it a popular choice for ornamental plantings, windbreaks, and natural privacy screens.
Note: Norway Spruce is widely used for grafting rootstock. Our liners develop a robust cambium layer, ideal for successful grafting. A one-year, seed-grown Gro-Plug® can be potted into an 18-count liner, grown on for one season, and then grafted.

All bare root birch single stem must be ordered in increments of 10.
