A medium-to-large, slow-growing coniferous evergreen with a dense, compact, narrow pyramidal habit and short ascending, graceful horizontal or pendulous branches that extend to the ground. Needles are the shortest of any spruce, rhombic in cross-section and dark green with inconspicuous stomatal lines. Cones are slender cylindric-conic, red to purple when young, maturing to dark brown and have stiff, smoothy rounded scales. Prefers cool climates, full sun to light shade and moist, well-drained soil. Popular ornamental tree for parks and large gardens.

When ordering tray material, any 38 Ct and 50 Ct Evergreen Gro Plugs or 18 Ct cell liner trays, the order quantity must be in full tray increments.

Example
  • 7 trays of 50 Ct Gro Plugs would be 350 plants on the order line.
  • 5 trays of 18 Ct trays would be 90 plants on the order line.

All bare root birch single stem must be ordered in increments of 10.
