A moderately growing, medium-sized evergreen conifer that exhibits a slender, pyramidal shape when young, transitioning to a more open and irregular crown with age. Branches are long and horizontal to pendant.

Needles are straight to slightly twisted and pliant, ranging from dark green to blue-green, with fine serration near the tips, and are borne in fascicles of five. Cones are large, with thick, reflexed scales, and range in color from creamy brown to light yellow-brown.

Thrives in well-drained, sandy or loamy soils and prefers full sun to partial shade. A popular choice for Christmas trees, windbreaks, or loose privacy screens.
