A small to medium-sized, slower-growing, dense geographical variant of White Spruce. Symmetrical and pyramidal in shape with ascending branches and a strong central leader. Needles are blue-green, stiff, pointed and are quadrangular in cross-section, meaning they have four sides. Cones are slender, cylindrical and pendulous with thin, flexible scales that are rounded at the edges, initially green or reddish, turning a pale brown color as they mature. Prefers full sun to light shade, moist, well-drained soil and good air circulation, especially in humid areas. Popular choice for ornamental plantings, privacy screens and windbreaks.
