SPRUCE KOREAN

The bark ranges from gray to red-brown and develops a slightly flaky texture with age. Shoots are orange-brown and may be smooth or lightly pubescent. Buds are reddish-brown, conical to ovoid in shape, and slightly resinous, with subtly recurved scales.

Needles are arranged forward along the upper side of the branches and spread along the lower side, creating a full, layered appearance. They are dark bluish-green with noticeable stomatal lines and have a rhombic cross-section.

Seed cones are cylindrical to conical, maturing to a pale brown within 5 to 7 months after pollination. Scales are stiff and smoothly rounded. Seeds are small, dark gray, and winged, aiding in natural dispersal.

This species performs best in full sun with well-drained soil and is well suited for ornamental plantings, windbreaks, and large landscape applications.
